PLAZA DE LA SOLEDAD Feature Documentary

East Coast premiere

The ladies singing along to what they refer to as “our song” in the opening moments of PLAZA DE LA SOLEDAD might be retirees on a day trip, but the song’s lyrics of “the pain and sorrow of Cabaret love paid for money” hit home for these older women still making a living as prostitutes. Noted Mexican photographer Maya Goded makes an impressive filmmaking debut with this sensitive look at the lives of the women in some of her most famous photos. — Mark Page
