A LOVE SONG FOR LATASHA Short Films

Latasha Harlins was 15 -years -old when she was killed by Soon Ja Du at Empire Liquor in South Central Los Angeles on March 16, 1991. This dreamlike, hybrid documentary reimagines a more nuanced narrative of Latasha’s life.

Sophia Nahli Allison is an experimental documentary filmmaker and photographer from Los Angeles. She reimagines the archives and conjures ancestral memories. In 2018, she was a Sundance Institute New Frontier Lab Programs Fellow and received a grant from Glassbreaker Films. She has a master’s in Visual Communication from the University of North Carolina.
