THE GREAT HACK Truth and Justice

An American professor discovers that his personal data has been hacked. His data is then used to create a digital political profile that, like those of 240 million other Americans, is weaponized to help sway the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Surprisingly, the professor discovers that British law gives him rights over his personal data that American law does not. Will he finally get his day in court? Who will be exposed? Can these unregulated practices be curtailed?

Academy Award®-nominated filmmakers Karim Amer and Jehane Noujaim (THE SQUARE) masterfully unravel the Cambridge Analytica/Facebook scandal and focus on two characters at its core. As this David-versus-Goliath story powerfully demonstrates, only by fighting for our rights can we reign in big tech and reclaim our digital identities.

Karim Amer is an Academy Award®–nominated filmmaker, best known for producing the documentary THE SQUARE, which was nominated for an Academy Award and received three Emmy® Awards. Amer also teamed up with Angelina Jolie and Jehane Noujaim to executive produce the Academy Award–nominated animated feature, THE BREADWINNER in 2017.

Jehane Noujaim is an Academy Award®-nominated director and one of two nonfiction directors to win the Directors Guild of America Award twice.
