Join the team at AFI DOCS! The film festival offers a unique opportunity to connect audiences with world-class documentarians, film subjects, national opinion leaders, public policy experts, and changemakers.

Our dedicated volunteers represent the festival, sharing their enthusiasm for documentaries with patrons from the greater Washington DC area and across the world. Every year, more than 100 volunteers work together to make the festival Washington DC’s premier documentary film exhibition. Our volunteers assist in all areas of the festival – from working at the box office and ushering at screenings to providing key support in terms of social media and photography.

As a volunteer, you are the face of the festival. AFI DOCS is looking for friendly, responsible and hardworking volunteers who will ensure that patrons have the best possible experience during their time at AFI DOCS.

Our volunteers are rewarded for their help with vouchers to festival screenings, rewards from local businesses and a fulfilling festival experience connecting with other cinephiles. Student Service Learning hours are also happily provided!

We’d love to have you on board for this year! If you’re interested in helping out, please visit our community hub on Timecounts where you can learn more and register: timecounts.org/AFIDOCS.
